Life is Hard … But There’s Help

Life these past months has been interesting to say the least. I’ve grown closer to God, been faithful in reading His Word, had great times with my children and grandchildren, drawn closer to my husband and failed miserably in some of my life’s choices. I’ve called you and talked to you and I’ve ignored your calls. I’ve written notes to you and not sent them. I’ve prayed for you and forgotten completely about you. I’ve been to church both online and in person and then decided that I just wasn’t doing that too.

How can a person do all of these within such a short period of time? It’s hard to believe, but true. Maybe you’ve done better than me. Maybe you’ve made all the right choices in this time of life. If so, that’s great! That’s amazing! You’re doing so well!

But if you haven’t and are like me and haven’t done 100% and are unhappy with yourself, you understand. Life is hard and full of difficult choices to make. The enemy is hard at work to pull us off track and to get us to fall into sin … to stray away from the things we know as truth.

And Jesus is good. He is faithful. His mercies are new every morning! Thank you Lord for that! What would I ever do without Him and His faithfulness to me!

My life is full because of Him. I can always return to Him because His arms are always open wide for me. He is my refuge. He is my strength. I can always find Him.

No matter what we’ve done or haven’t done, His love is steadfast. His love is real. He knows our weaknesses and our strengths and He wants to help us in those areas. His mercies are new every morning.

As we submit ourselves to Him, He will help us to overcome. Sometimes it takes some diligence. The word tells us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. I believe that just means for us to work on those things that we try to do right … work on those areas where we stumble … live out our life of salvation rightly. Take all of what God has given to us and allow it to work in our lives … by making right choices, asking forgiveness when we make mistakes, ask for His help to get us to that place where we can do right again.

He has given us all of the tools … it’s our job to use those tools within our lives.

p.s. Does any of this resonate with you? If so, I’m here for you. I’d love to pray for you.

  1. Beautifully written. The pull back and forth is real. The presence of a dark cloud keeps trying to cover over me but praise God He is right there blowing it away with His power, love, grace, etc…

I’m right there with you Carolyn, life has been packing quite a punch over these past few months. Every day I see things to be grateful for and then forget so quickly to be grateful. Life… am I right??

  3. So true! How quickly my selfish heart becomes evident in my choices or my reactions to disappointment. One thing that has helped is journaling. Funny how when I complain with my pen I can see myself a little more clearly…Thank You, Jesus.
