Poached Pears

At our team retreat in January we ate so much delicious food … as we always do. So we thought it would be fun to share a few of the recipes with all of you ladies. Here’s one that Nicole make for us. We hope you’ll try it out!

Spiced Tea Infused Poached Pears

6 pears (firm works better- like Anjou or Bosc)

3 black tea bags (you can use decaf)

2 cinnamon sticks

8 cloves

1/8 nutmeg seed (approximate-I cut a small piece off a nutmeg seed)

1/4 C brown sugar

1/8 tsp salt

1 Tbsp butter

Whipped cream

Add tea bags and spices to 3 cups boiling water and steep 10 minutes. While steeping, peel pears, cut in half, and remove seeds. Place pears in crockpot. Remove tea bags from water and add salt and brown sugar. Pour over pears to cover. Cook 3-4 hours on low until soft. Remove pears from crockpot. Pour tea and spices in a pot and boil on stovetop until reduced to approximately 1 cup (about 20 minutes). Remove spices and add butter to tea. To serve: Pour reduced tea over pears and top with whipped cream.
