Give Someone a Foretaste of Heaven This Christmas

Bringing Joy to the Elderly

I’m so excited to let you know about an opportunity to give someone a foretaste of heaven this next Tuesday evening. We want to bring God’s reign with beauty and justice to a few people who are very lonely this time of year. And it is just 2 hours of your time.

I know. You’re really busy. There’s so much to get done before Christmas. I’m sure Joseph and Mary felt they didn’t have time to go to Bethlehem either. But they did. And Jesus came.

So let your life be interrupted with inconvenience next Tuesday evening. Jesus will come, and that’s what Christmas is all about anyway, isn’t it?

So here’s the opportunity—we get to bring some joy to the elderly with Christmas caroling and delivering the lap blankets we made at retreat. If you have kids, this is a perfect opportunity to teach them about beauty and justice through experience—just by caroling with other kids and adults from Father’s House.

However, I am specifically looking for some women and men who would deliver a lap blanket, visit, and pray with an elderly person who has no family or friends visit them at Christmas time. (I’ll be getting a list from the staff so we know exactly which people those might be.)

You can sign-up in the foyer at church, call me, or leave a comment to this post that you would love to participate.

Here’s the time and place information: Tuesday, December 17 @ 6:00 p.m. in the foyer of Vineyard Hills Health Center: 290 Heather Ct. (left off of Vineyard Dr. before you get to Twin Cities Hospital).

Won’t you join me in shadowing Jesus this Christmas season? – Susan
